The Fifth World Forum on the Shoah in Jerusalem
About forty heads of state and government, including the presidents of France, Macron, Italy, Mattarella, and Russia, Putin, met today in Jerusalem on 23 January 2020 to participate in the Fifth World Forum on the Shoah, entitled “Remembering the Holocaust: fighting anti-Semitism”, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the extermination camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau, which took place on January 27, 1945 by the Red Army. Also present in Jerusalem was the Prince of Wales, Charles.
The Forum organized by the World Holocaust Forum Foundation, in cooperation with the Yad Vashem memorial in Jerusalem, is the most significant event held in Israel after the funeral of Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres.
The aim of the initiative is to promote concrete policies in the various States for the fight against anti-Semitism, in respect of the memory of the millions of Jews exterminated by the Nazis during the Second World War.
