Tusk gathered the consensus of 27 countries out of 28, with the exception only of his country, Poland. Warsaw governed by the free elections in October 2015 by an absolute majority of the national-conservative PiS was in fact opposed to the last the reappointment of Tusk, presenting an alternative candidate close to the government, Jacek Saryusz-Wolski.

“I am grateful for the confidence and the positive assessment by the European Council. In my second term I will do everything to create better and more united European Union, but I recognize that my reelection is a paradox,” he said Tusk tweeting hot.

The Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo on his arrival in Brussels said that the re-election of Tusk “will lead to the destabilization” of the Union.

The risk of a rift between the Centre-East and West EU looks stronger than ever. Warsaw did not want to resort to the veto against the reappointment of Tusk, but it is clear to all the danger that Poland leading country of the center-east of the EU and NATO is hast laid the right to block other important decisions in the near future.
